RESPECT LIFE CORNER-In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus asks the Pharisees and Herodians why they are testing him? (Matthew 22:18) In the parable
of Cesar’s coin, Jesus is quizzed on his views on the census tax. Be for it,
make the people mad. Be against it, make Roman authorities mad. The hypocrisy of the questions angered Jesus as both parties began working
together to discredit him, yet they were foiled again. Jesus is master of every situation we may find ourselves in. Jesus is Lord and the Good Shephard, regardless of how poorly His sheep behave.
Learn, Act, Connect and Pray-Every Catholic has dual citizenship with
its own duties and benefits. Our birth makes us citizens of this country,
but our baptism makes us citizens of Christ’s Kingdom. We must live out
both roles with responsibility and justice. It is our obligation, then, to stand
up for those who cannot stand for themselves; the weak, the powerless,
the destitute, the unborn, the forgotten. We are called to put aside our
selfish ways, our selfish agendas and look to God for guidance on what
He would have us do to help the least of our brothers and sisters. Only
then can we carry His Gospel message forward here on earth.
